দেবতা জিউসের আদেশে প্রমিথিউস পৃথিবীতে পশু ও মানুষ দুই-ই সৃষ্টি করলেন। কিন্তু পশুর সংখ্যা বেড়ে গেল। দেবতা জিউস তখন প্রমিথিউসকে বললেন—পশুর সংখ্যা বড় বেশি হয়ে গেছে। এদের কিছু সংখ্যককে তুমি মানুষে পরিণত কর।
দেবতা জিউসের কথামত প্রমিথিউস কিছু পশুকে মানুষ করে দিলেন। ফলে পশু থেকে মানুষ হল। আর তাদের চেহারা মানুষের মত হলেও প্রকৃতি ও আচার-আচরণ তাদের পশুর মতই রয়ে গেল।
ফলে সেই সব পশু স্বভাবের মানুষ পৃথিবীতে একটা সমস্যা হয়ে দাঁড়াল।
উপদেশ - পশু স্বভাবের মানুষের থেকে মানুষকে দূরে থাকতে হয়।
