বিড়ালের বাচ্চা

 

একদা এক ধনী ভদ্রলোক ছিল ৷ তার যেমন ধন-সম্পত্তি ছিল ঠিক তেমনি তিনি জনসাধারণের বিনোদনের জন্যে প্রচুর অর্থ খরচ করতেন। প্রতি বৎসরই তিনি নানা ধরনের অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করতেন।
একদিন সেই ধনী ব্যক্তিটি লোক দিয়ে ঢ়্যাড়া পিটিয়ে সবাইকে জানিয়ে দিলেন যে-এবার তিনি এমন সব তাজ্জব ও অদ্ভুত জিনিস দেখাবার ব্যবস্থা করেছেন যা এর আগে কেউ দেখেনি । আর এই অদ্ভুত মজার অনুষ্ঠানে যে কেউ অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারবে। অংশগ্রহণকারীদের মধ্যে যে সবচেয়ে অদ্ভুত ও মজার কিছু দেখাতে পারবে তাকে প্রচুর পুরস্কার দিয়ে সম্মানিত করা হবে।
এই ঘোষণা শুনে দেশের নানা প্রান্ত থেকে অপেশাদার ও পেশাদার প্রচুর মানুষ এল । তাদের ইচ্ছে অপরকে প্রতিযোগিতায় হারিয়ে নাম কিনবে ।
একজন বিখ্যাত হাস্যকৌতুককারী হরবোলাও এল এই প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশগ্রহণ করতে ৷ সে এসে বলল, এমন খেলা সে দেখাবে যে সেরকমটা এর আগে আর কেউ কখনও দেখেনি ।
প্রতিযোগিতা শুরু হল । সেই অনুষ্ঠানে এত লোকের সমাগম হয়েছিল যে তিল ধারণেরও জায়গা ছিল না । অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হতেই চারদিক নিস্তব্ধ হয়ে গেল । সেই হাস্যকৌতুককারী হরবোলাটি হঠাৎ রঙ্গমঞ্চে উঠে তার মাথাটা নিচু করে উপরকার জামার ভাজের মুখ লুকিয়ে লুকিয়ে এমন শব্দ করতে লাগল যে শুনে সকলেরই মনে হল ঠিক যেন একটা বিড়াল বাচ্চা মিঁউ মিঁউ করছে।
সকলেই তখন এক বাক্যে বলে উঠল, এটা ওর চালাকি ৷ ও নিশ্চয়ই ওর পোশাকের মধ্যে বিড়াল বাচ্চা লুকিয়ে রেখেছে-এ যে সত্যিকারের বিড়াল বাচ্চার ডাক। অতএব দর্শকদের অনুরোধে তারা সারা শরীরে তল্লাশি চালানো হল । কিন্তু অনেক খোঁজাখুঁজি করেও কিছু পাওয়া গেল না তার পোশাকের ভেতর থেকে ।
দর্শকদের মধ্যে একটি চালাক লোক ছিল ৷ সে অমনি বলে উঠল, এ আর কি, এর চেয়ে আমি আরও অনেক ভাল পারি । আপনারা অনুমতি দিলে কালই-উনিও আসুন, আমিও প্রস্তুত হয়ে আসবো । দেখবেন কার ডাক আসল বিড়াল ছানার মত। অতএব তাই-ই স্থির হল।
পরদিন একেবারে ভেঙে পড়ল লোক। যথাসময়ে দুই প্রতিযোগীই মঞ্চে হাজির ৷ সেই হরবোলাটিই প্রথম বাচ্চা বিড়ালের ডাক শোনাল ৷ আর চারদিক তখন করতালিতে মুখরিত হয়ে উঠল!
এরপর সেই চালাক লোকটির পালা ৷ মঞ্চের সামনে সে এগিয়ে এসে তার হাত দু'টো জামার ওপর এমনভাবে ধরল যে দেখে মনে হল জামার তলায় বুঝি সে কোনো বিড়াল ছানা লুকিয়ে রেখেছে। আগের দিন এ হরবোলা ভদ্রলোকটির জামাকাপড় খুঁজে যখন কিছু পাওয়া যায় নি তখন দর্শকরা মনে করল-এ লোকটারও এটা স্রেফ ভাওতা । সে কিন্তু সত্যি সত্যিই জামার তলায় বিড়াল বাচ্চা লুকিয়ে এনেছিল । বাচ্চাটার পেটে চাপ দিতেই বিড়াল ছানাটা যন্ত্রণায় মিউ মিউ করে ডেকে উঠল মৃদু শব্দে ৷ কিনু দর্শকরা হাততালি দিল না । সবাই বলতে লাগল এর চেয়ে হাস্যকৌতুককারীর ডাকই যেন বেশি আসলের মত শোনাল।
এই শুনে চালাক অথচ বুদ্ধু লোকটা আর রাগ সামলাতে পারল না। সে রেগেমেগে জামার তলা থেকে বিড়াল ছানাটিকে বার করে সবাইকে দেখিয়ে বলল, এই দেখো,তবুও বলছ তোমরা ওর ডাক আসলের মত?

উপদেশ - বদ্ধমুল ধারণা বদলানো কঠিন ।

Once upon a time there was a rich gentleman. As much as he had wealth, he spent a lot of money on public entertainment. Every year he would organize various kinds of events.

One day, the rich man told everyone that this time he had arranged to show all kinds of amazing and strange things that no one had seen before. And anyone could participate in this strange and funny event. The one who could show the strangest and funniest thing among the participants would be honored with a lot of prizes.

Hearing this announcement, many people, amateurs and professionals, came from different parts of the country. They wanted to beat each other in the competition and make a name for themselves.

A famous comedian Harbola also came to participate in this competition. He came and said that he would show such a game that no one had ever seen before.

The competition began. So many people gathered at that event that there was no room even to hold a sesame seed. As soon as the event started, silence fell all around.  The funny clown suddenly got up on the stage, lowered his head, hid his face in the folds of his shirt, and started making such a sound that everyone thought it was like a kitten meowing.

Everyone then said in one sentence, this is his trick. He must have hidden a kitten in his clothes - this is the call of a real kitten. So, at the request of the audience, they searched his whole body. But despite a lot of searching, nothing was found inside his clothes.

There was a clever person in the audience. He immediately said, what is this, I can do much better than this. If you allow me, come tomorrow, I will also be ready. We will see whose call is like a real kitten. So that was decided.

The next day, the people were completely devastated. On time, both the contestants appeared on the stage. That clown was the first to make the call of a kitten. And then the whole place erupted in applause!

 Then it was the turn of the clever man. He came forward to the front of the stage and held his hands on his shirt in such a way that it looked like he had hidden a kitten under his shirt. When the previous day, when the clothes of this scoundrel gentleman were searched and nothing was found, the audience thought that this man was just a joke too. But he really had hidden a kitten under his shirt. When he pressed the baby's stomach, the kitten meowed in pain and called out softly. The audience did not clap. Everyone started saying that the call of the comedian sounded more like a joke.

Hearing this, the clever but wise man could not control his anger any longer. He angrily took the kitten out from under his shirt and showed it to everyone and said, "Look, you still say that its call is like a joke?"
