নতি স্বীকার

 একদা এক বনে জলপাই গাছ আর নলখাগড়ার গাছ ছিল। একদিন ওদের মধ্যে খুব তর্ক শুরু হল। তর্কের বিষয় ছিল কার শক্তি এবং সহ্যগুণ বেশি তাই নিয়ে। জলপাইগাছ নলখাগড়াকে তুচ্ছ-তাচ্ছিল্য করে বলছিল-তুই আর মুখ নেড়ে কথা বলিস না। তোর গায়ের জোর আমার খুব জানা আছে। একটু বাতাস বইলেই তো তুই নুয়ে পড়িস। নলখাগড়া গাছ এ কথার কোনো জবাব দিল না।

একটু পরেই উঠল প্রচণ্ড ঝড়। নলখাগড়া নুয়ে পড়ে পড়ে, ঝড়ের ঝাপটা এড়িয়ে যেতে লাগল । আর জলপাই গাছ দাড়িয়ে ঝড় রুখতে গিয়ে তার দাপটে হুড়মুড় করে ভেঙে পড়ল।

উপদেশ - শক্তিশালীর কাছে নতি কীকার দোষের নয় যদি তাতে নিজেরই লাভ হয়।

Once upon a time, there was an olive tree and a reed tree in a forest. One day, they had a big argument. The argument was about who was stronger and more tolerant. The olive tree was belittling the reed tree and saying, "Don't talk with your mouth. I know how strong you are. If you get a little wind, you will bend down." The reed tree did not reply to this.

Soon after, a fierce storm arose. The reed tree bent down and tried to avoid the storm. And the olive tree, trying to stop the storm, was shattered by its force.

Advice - It is not wrong to bow to the strong if it benefits you.
