রাতের অন্ধকার নামার আগেই গ্রামের সবাই বাড়ি ফিরে আসে। কারণ গ্রামের এক কোণে আছে একটি পুরানো লাইব্রেরি, যেখানে নাকি রাতে অদ্ভুত শব্দ শোনা যায়!
তৃতীয় শ্রেণির ছাত্র তুহিন খুব সাহসী ছেলে। সে ভূত নিয়ে ভয় পায় না। একদিন সে ঠিক করল, সে ওই পুরানো লাইব্রেরির রহস্য খুঁজে বের করবে। বন্ধু রিমিকেও সঙ্গে নিল।
রাত ৮টার দিকে দুই বন্ধু চুপিচুপি লাইব্রেরির দিকে এগোলো। চারদিকে ঝিঁঝিঁ পোকার ডাক, হালকা বাতাসে গাছের পাতার সরসর শব্দ—সব মিলিয়ে পরিবেশটা বেশ ভৌতিক!
তারা জানালার ফাঁক দিয়ে দেখল, ভিতরে আলো জ্বলছে! আর কেউ একজন বইয়ের তাকের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে!
তুহিন আর রিমি সাহস করে দরজা ঠেলে ভিতরে ঢুকল। তখনই "থ্যাংক ইউ!" বলে একটা গলা শোনা গেল।
তারা অবাক! সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে এক বুড়ো মানুষ, চোখে মোটা চশমা। তিনি বললেন, "আমি এই লাইব্রেরির প্রাক্তন লাইব্রেরিয়ান। আমি মারা গেছি বহু বছর আগে। কিন্তু আমার প্রিয় বইগুলো ছাড়া থাকতে পারি না, তাই মাঝেমাঝে দেখতে আসি!"
তুহিন ভয়ে কাঁপছিল, কিন্তু ভূতটা বলল, "ভয় পেয়ো না। আমি কাউকে কোনো ক্ষতি করি না। বরং চাই, তোমরা সবাই আবার এখানে বই পড়তে আসো। লাইব্রেরিটা আবার জমে উঠুক!"
সেই রাতের পর থেকে তুহিন আর রিমি ঠিক করল, তারা সবাইকে নিয়ে পুরানো লাইব্রেরি আবার চালু করবে। আর সত্যিই, কয়েক সপ্তাহের মধ্যেই লাইব্রেরি হয়ে উঠল গ্রামের সবচেয়ে প্রিয় জায়গা।
ভূত লাইব্রেরিয়ান? সে মাঝেমাঝে আসে, বই ঠিকঠাক রাখে—কিন্তু এখন আর কেউ ভয় পায় না!

Everyone in the village returns home before dark. Because in one corner of the village there is an old library, where strange sounds can be heard at night!
Tuhin, a third-grade student, is a very brave boy. He is not afraid of ghosts. One day he decided that he would find out the mystery of that old library. He took his friend Rimi with him.
Around 8 pm, the two friends quietly walked towards the library. The sound of crickets chirping all around, the rustling of leaves in the light wind—all together, the atmosphere was quite spooky!
They saw through the window that the light was on inside! And someone was standing in front of the bookshelf!
Tuhin and Rimi bravely pushed the door open and entered. Just then, a voice was heard saying "Thank you!"
They were surprised! Standing in front was an old man with thick glasses. He said, "I am the former librarian of this library. I died many years ago. But I can't live without my favorite books, so I come to visit from time to time!"
Tuhin was trembling with fear, but the ghost said, "Don't be afraid. I don't want to harm anyone. I want you all to come here to read books again. Let the library be full again!"
From that night on, Tuhin and Rimi decided that they would take everyone with them to reopen the old library. And indeed, within a few weeks, the library became the most beloved place in the village.
The ghost librarian? He comes from time to time, keeps the books in order—but now no one is afraid anymore!
